Too add to my earlier post… I also noted that all of the First buses have adverts inside the buses advertising ‘full day tickets’ and various ticketing options that offer ‘unlimited’ travel. There is no small print on these adverts to indicate these ticket options are not valid on evening… Continue reading…

More pram/wheelchair/flexible spaces! In Brighton (also a city, remember) the buses have a large number of flexible spaces that can be used for prams, wheelchair users; there are fold-down seats if required. Plus WHY when we have laws about accessibility are there still buses with steps up to them? It’s… Continue reading…

Since First Bus took over from Strathclyde Public Transport and became the major bus company operating in Glasgow and the surrounding areas they have systematically dismantled (without consultation) the bus service throughout the city. They have redirected many bus routes adding precious time to journeys, they have removed the bus… Continue reading…

A better pricing system would make more sense – most drivers interrogate you about where you’re going if you ask for a 90p fare as it’s such a short distance, so surely it would make more sense to have a short journey fare which actually allows for a decent length… Continue reading…

The abuse of power exercised by First is having an extremely negative impact on Glasgow’s economy. They are effectively restricting travel across the city and by reducing routes whenever they get the opportunity, are leaving people in more deprived areas effectively prisoners in their housing estates. What’s the encouragement to… Continue reading…

I live in Govanhill, it takes me 30 minutes to walk to work (and I do whenever I can) but for me to get the bus it costs £1.85, the same it costs for a person to travel the full length of the bus route. The service doesn’t warrant this… Continue reading…

The buses in Glasgow are extremely expensive in comparison to other cities in the UK as far as I know. Paying £1.80 for a single fare for 6 stops is excessive. We should be linking up our rail, bus and subway with a pay as you go system like London’s… Continue reading…

I really wish there was a ticket system. I only take the bus four mornings a week which is not often enough to justify a pass. I am constantly scrambling for exact change for the 90p fare. My bus travel would be so much easier and more efficient if I… Continue reading…

I have just returned from a visit to Perth in Western Australia, and it is interesting to compare public transport provision in the two cities. Perth is probably about the same size as greater Glasgow, but is very remote from other Australian cities. Public transport in Perth, known as Transperth,… Continue reading…
