Better Buses

Today, First changed their routes and to the ‘surprise’ of many, a good number of people were confused and got lost. This reminded me of how I felt when I first came from Berlin to Glasgow four years ago and tried to use the buses. I was used to going to a bus station, looking at the map of Berlin and then at the timetable which had every station of the route and possible connections with other bus services on it. This made navigating very easy in Berlin. As it is now in Glasgow, anyone who does not know his/her way around is left at the mercy of the bus driver… If you add to this the fact that you need to have the exact change on you for bus fares, I’m really not that surprised that buses are not too popular. I, for one, quickly decided that cycling would be more stress-free (despite the lack of separate bike lanes) and cheaper than taking the bus…
