Surely it can’t be healthy that a single company controls both main forms of transport. If First drive people off the buses, then they are going to pick up business on the trains. Conversely, if they duff up the trains, then people will be forced onto the buses.

This is a lose-lose situation for the consumer.

The only benefit of having both services provided by the same company would be integration of fares and journeys. Why then, are we not allowed to complete a journey from A to B using rail and bus on the same ticket??
