What people have said so far (Glasgow)

I have travelled, worked and lived in cities all over Europe. Glasgow has the worst bus service and most un-integratd public transport system of any I have visited, only marginally pipped by Liverpool where Arriva (and even First) do not insist on exact fares. Arriving home from Berlin for instance,… Continue reading…

I’ve also just thought…First operate Scotrail too. Surely it can’t be healthy that a single company controls both main forms of transport. If First drive people off the buses, then they are going to pick up business on the trains. Conversely, if they duff up the trains, then people will… Continue reading…

I’m a pretty frequent bus user, usually a couple of times a week. The things that spring to mind with regards to improvements for the buses are ticketing and mapping. With regards to tickets – it would be great if you could buy a single journey ticket that lasted about… Continue reading…

Another sparkling example of First Buses customer service. Is there any way of viewing their complaints? If they receive some public funding then surely we have a right to see a breakdown of complaints and how they are dealt with. I made a complaint about offensive racist behaviour by a… Continue reading…

Patrick, I was looking at first bus’ website. The return ticket is apparently non-refundable, even if First fail to provide a service and cancel buses for whatever reason. How can they get away with such an exploitative T&C?… Continue reading…

The fact you need the exact change every time you go on a bus is ridiculous. It puts me off going on the buses at all. Is it not possible to have drivers give passengers change, as is the case in most other ‘cosmopolitan’ cities? Also, the fares seem completely… Continue reading…

I recently used the Lothian bus service in Edinburgh and found them of a much greater standard (cleanliness, frequency, efficiency, friendliness of drivers, value, comfort etc. etc.) than the First buses in Glasgow. I wish they could operate in Glasgow to challenge the apparent monopoly of bus routes First currently… Continue reading…

Thanks for writing to FirstBus recently, particularly about student discounts.  I suspect they will reply as they have on Twitter – they will tell you that the adult first4week card is discounted to £48.50 for those under 20 (including school students). However, my argument is about FirstCard – since December… Continue reading…

Although First and GCC have made a bad situation worse with unfair fairs and a what seems to be a monopoly; buses were always going to be difficult in Glasgow with the awkward road infrastructure in the city centre (compounded again by the inner city ring road). Perhaps we need… Continue reading…

I want ALL 38 services to use the same bus stops, no matter what company provides the service. And I want this principle applied across ALL services where there is a choice of bus company. Time for better rationalisation of stops. If any bus is going Union St-Shawlands, then we… Continue reading…
